Description

VCL IEEE-1588v2 Slave is a high precision, yet cost efficient, Time and Frequency Synchronization solution which can be used to distribute synchronized time-of-day and frequency across all nodes of the network (using IEEE-1588v2 Master-Slave protocol) referenced to a single GPS, IEEE-1588 Master. Multiple IRIG-B Outputs are also provided at each location to synchronize local clock displays and RTUs and to a central IEEE-1588v2 Master timing source with nanosecond accuracy. The VCL 1588, Time and Frequency IEEE-1588v2 Slave are fully compatible with the VCL-GPS-Receiver and IEEE-1588-Master.

The VCL-1588-Slave is designed for the synchronization of 2G, 3G and LTE mobile telecommunications networks as well as backhaul wireline SDH/SONET and Synchronous Ethernet networks. It may be also used by Railways, Airports (including air-traffic control), power generation and distribution companies and other utility companies who need to distribute highly precise time-of-day and frequency synchronization across all nodes
of their networks.

The equipment provides a phase locked G.812, Type I and Type II quality frequency synchronization (when locked to its IEEE-1588 Master) reference. It also provides multiple time (IRIG-B) and frequency outputs that are also usually required by the users of such equipment.

The VCL-1588-Slave is equipped with a highly accurate, low-noise OCXO and a high precision DPLL (Digital Phase Locked Loop Clock), which provides a high stability holdover quality typical of an SSU in the eventuality of communication failure between the IEEE-1588 Master and the Slave units.

The VCL-1588-Slave can be managed by any Windows based PC connected to the equipment via a serial RS-232 or a USB connection, or over a 10/100BaseT Ethernet / IP link using Telnet or secured SSH communication protocol. A user friendly GUI is also provided that gives the “user” the ease for configuration, monitoring and management.

 

It provides an easy-to-use interface for configuring the unit and displaying its current status such as the visible GPS satellites, the unit’s operational state, the status of the outputs and power supplies etc.

 

The equipment may be monitored by the network administrator from a central location using SNMP. An NMS (Network Management Software), capable of monitoring up to 500 nodes over an IP network is provided free-of-charge along with the equipment. An MIB file is also provided for integration with third-party NMS.

 

The unit also provides an alarm relay contact for connecting an external audio or visual alarm.
